TriVex is another new system for the removal of varicose veins. The TriVex system was developed by the founders of AmeriVein as a method for removing varicose veins with minimal cuts and incisions. This method is called Trans-Illuminated Powered Phlebectomy (TIPP) Trans-illuminated means that light is passed through the skin, and phlebectomy is the medical term for vein removal. Not everyone is a candidate for VNUS closure or sclerotherapy. Sometimes the vein branches are too extensive, and this is where TriVex comes in. The operation i had and no doubt many of you have had is the time honoured way of stripping the veins. The drawbacks of this method are numerous, and one of the major disadvantages is that it is done "blind". Now i don't mean that the surgeon is blind! but it means that the surgeon cannot always see the vein or confirm removal. Using the TriVrex system allows the surgeon to accurately find and remove the vein, and also to then visually confirm its complete extraction. This new system makes the removal of varicose veins much more effective and complete, and has the added benefit of :-
"Traditional varicose vein surgery, which many times
requires up to 20 to 30 incisions, causes a great deal of pain and
requires a long recovery period," said Gregory Spitz, M.D., F.A.C.S.,
inventor of the technique used with the TriVex System. "In fact, many
people avoided treatment because they felt the cure was not worth the
pain." |
