Varicose veins and spider veins, bring untold misery, suffering and embarrassment to millions of us all over the world. What qualifies me to make this web site? Simple really, ive got em! all over my legs. Im just a regular guy whose had varicose veins since i was 15, im now 35 and after two operations, (one sclerotherapy and the second a vein stripping job) they are still here. You are probably reading this because you too have varicose veins. Don't worry, there are millions of people just like me and you! Varicose veins are a very common problem On this site you will find information and advice on varicose veins, spider veins, treatments, causes and remedies, along with some technical stuff (not that much) about how we get varicose veins and how to get rid of the damn things. Now whilst i know they look unsightly, it has never stopped me enjoying my life and doing the things i want to do. I play a lot of squash and badminton so it's a bit impractical to cover my legs up, unless i want to sweat to death! So i just carry on regardless and let other people worry about it. Im sure there are many of you out there with the same problem who just get on with it, good for you too! As for aches and pains from my veins, well i have to say it is manageable. My ankles used to swell up during the day (i am on my feet all day, which involves standing still for long periods of time) but since my second varicose vein operation, i don't see that much swelling in my lower legs. What i have noticed is that the bruising from the operation is still visible, almost four years on! If i do happen to bang my legs on something it becomes like a Tom and Jerry cartoon, with a large lump appearing right before my eyes!! And it takes ages for any bruise to go away, i wonder if anyone else has this problem? Whilst doing some research for this web site i have read a lot about the reasons why we get varicose veins and the topic of this condition being hereditary keeps cropping up. People agree and disagree that varicose veins are hereditary. Well i tend to agree that varicose veins are hereditary. My dad has them and so have all of his 6 sisters, and also some of their children too. My mom and sister have been spared! Lucky or what? I will leave you to draw your own conclusions about varicose veins being inherited, my view is from a purely personal experience. A lot of the web sites about varicose veins are from clinics and hospitals which seem very formal and a bit stuffy, so this site will offer a personal view with a bit less formality whilst still, hopefully! getting to the point of helping those of us who have varicose and spider veins. There are many products and herbs available today that promise to help with varicose and spider veins. In order to give an honest opinion on these products i have tested a few of them!! However, i think it is damn near impossible to test all of them myself, so if you have used some of these products i would welcome your experiences, good or bad, because the whole point of this web site is to offer honest opinions that we can all benefit from.
